RRV coaches, athletes earn honor

The Paris Chapter of Basketball Officials handed out their Sportsmanship Award for the second year.
At the James A. Dawson Fieldhouse on the campus of North Lamar High School last week, North Lamar boys basketball coach Homer Garner, Rivercrest girls basketball coach Justin Milton, Detroit senior Ross Denman and Honey Grove sophomore Diavian Shaw received the honors.

This past season, Garner led the Panthers to the regional semifinals, their first regional tournament berth in 35 years. Milton’s Lady Rebels finished with 21 wins and a playoff berth. Denman led the Eagles to playoff berth, aver- aging a double-double with 16.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game to go with 2.7 steals and 2.7 assists per contest. Shaw led the Lady Warriors to the area round with 18.8 points per game, 4.2 steals per game and 3.1 rebounds per game.

Scott Scudder, Mike Davidson, Shawn Jordan, Pete Kennedy and Lynn Patterson presented the awards on behalf of the Paris Chapter of Basketball Officials.
